Visit Kutch
Every year, the vast salt plains of the Great Rann of Kutch transform into a shining stage of culture, lights and desert magic. The Rann Utsav is more than just a festival; it is an immersive travel experience of nature, heritage, adventure and luxury. And for the 2025-26 season, it promises to be even bigger and richer.
Rann Utsav is an annual winter festival held in and around the village of Dhordo (Kutch, Gujarat) on the edge of the White Desert. It is organised by Gujarat Tourism to showcase Kutch’s natural beauty, tribal art, music, crafts and lifestyle under the desert sky.
Start Date: 23 October 2025
End Date: 4 March 2026
Season Duration: Over 4 months, giving plenty of time to plan and visit.
The long duration ensures visitors can experience the festival across major festive windows (Diwali, Christmas, New Year, Republic Day) and full-moon nights, when the desert salt flats glow like silver under moonlight.
Expect nightly folk performances showcasing Garba, Bhavai, Sufi and traditional Kutchi music & dance. Local craft bazaars display Ajrakh prints, mirror-work embroidery, Rogan art and leather craft.
The festival hosts a fully-equipped Tent City near Dhordo with AC & non-AC tents, multi-cuisine dining halls, craft zones and adventure areas. Booking early is key. rannutsav.net+1
Activities include camel rides on the salt plains, ATV rides, paramotoring, hot-air balloon rides, full-moon desert walks, stargazing and photo-ops on the “moonlit sea of salt”.
Experiencing Rann Utsav under the full moon is nothing short of magical. Here’s what makes these nights so special:
The White Desert shines like silver under the soft glow of the moon – a breathtaking sight you’ll never forget.
Special cultural programs and traditional performances are often organised on full-moon evenings.
It’s the best time for photography, every frame looks like a postcard.
Whether you’re travelling with family, friends, or your partner, a full-moon night adds unmatched charm to your trip.
The full-moon nights at Rann Utsav are the true essence of the festival. As moonlight spreads across the endless salt desert, the land turns into a glowing ocean of white. It’s a peaceful, surreal experience that captures the soul of Kutch.

Rann Utsav brings together culture, color, and community, but it’s the full-moon nights that make the experience truly unforgettable. The reflection of the moonlight on the white salt desert is something that words can’t describe, it has to be seen to be believed.
